Christmas Eve

We had three great services tonight at Hope.  Here’s the rundown:

 – 3 services
– 1500 people (or so)
– 1 string quartet (including 1 Lituanian, 1 Bulgarian, 1 Romanian, and 1 Jamaican)
– tons of lit candles
– 2 times hearing Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.”
– 1 time hearing the wrong song (first service, the quartet had the wrong sheetmusic for the Hallelujah Chorus. It was funny – and one of the most anti-climatic thing ever, after John announced with vigor, “Now, time for the HALLELUJAH CHORUS!!!”…followed by some soft and lightly played Beethoven song. It was greatness.
– A lot of fun.

It was a great night. It was odd because we didn’t have any services this past weekend. We cancelled them to give our workers/volunteers a break, and we were having the Christmas Eve services tonight anyways. So, it was weird to not have service this weekend and then just have it tonight. I suspect things will be different next year.

We head to El Paso on Friday night for a quick 3 day trip out there. Hopefully we will have some wintery weather like we did at Thanksgiving.

Merry Christmas!
